'Stargate Atlantis' Overload

image

My copy of the Stargate Atlantis Complete Series Box Set came in the mail yesterday. You can expect a review to pop up on AOL’s Sci Fi Squad sometime very soon.

I gotta say, I really love this show. Sure, it’s not Battlestar Galactica or The Wire (it’s definitely not The Wire), but SGA is a fun, clever and action-packed slice of sci-fi silliness. I love the characters on the show and the actors who portray them, especially David Hewlett (pictured), who turned his character Dr. Rodney McKay into a grumpy geek icon. The other cast members — Rachell Lutrell, Joe Flanigan, Torri Higginson, Paul McGillion and future Conan the Barbarian, Jason Momoa — are all great. You can tell they really loved working with each other.

It’s a shame that Syfy decided to cancel SGA after five seasons. A show like this probably could have continued for a few more years, maybe incorporating more serialized elements along the way. How great would it be to have a new SGA ep to unwind with after watching all the drama unfold on the new Stargate Universe on Friday nights? Really great, that’s how great.

But now I can always revisit my favorite eps with this awesome box set. I have no idea how much this thing costs, so I can’t recommend that you run out and pick one up now. I’ll have all that info plus some notes on the bonus features next week on Sci Fi Squad. See ya then.

Two Things: Cylons and Others

image

I really do get paid cash money to write things on the Internet. That’s not just a catchy slogan on my blog’s sidebar, it’s true! Today I kept poverty at bay with a pair of quick posts about two of my favorite shows, Caprica and Lost.

I posted a preview clip of Caprica’s mid-season finale on TV Squad that features James Marsters getting pistol whipped by a big bad nun. Over at Sci Fi Squad, I preview tonight’s much anticipated Richard Alpert-centric episode of Lost. (Some of you might remember I interviewed Nestor Carbonell about this episode last month.)

So there it is. A bite-sized slice of shameless self-promotion served up with an extra side of shamelessness. Thanks for reading.

Andy Richter talks about leaving NBC on Nerdist

image

Listen, I know I’ve gushed about the Nerdist podcast before, but I’m gonna do it again, because the latest episode is one of the funniest things I’ve heard in a long, long time.

Andy Richter guest stars on Nerdist #7, and he talks about leaving The Tonight Show and NBC, meeting Conan O’Brien and becoming his sidekick, and, er, nosefrakking. Yeah, you know, nosefrakking.

Trust me, it’s good stuff. Great stuff. Funny stuff. I wish I was half as funny as the nerds who produce this podcast. But I’m not, so I have to work a day job. So I’ll say goodbye now. Goodbye now.

So what's the deal with this blog, Moody? Eh? Eh?

image

I’ll level with you, folks. A few weeks ago I accidentally deleted  my old Wordpress blog from the Internets. That’s right, the old MikeMoody.net is lost forever in a giant bowl of cold web soup. A server error or a Wordpress mix-up isn’t to blame. It was my fault. I did with my own two hands. And now I’m here.

So consider this little Tumblblog the new home of Moody Enterprises for the time being. I don’t have time to build another self-hosted Wordpress site right now, so I’ll be posting here for a while.

I’ll eventually get to posting some of my old celeb interviews, reviews, etc here, but for now you can look forward to updates about my super secret new project, links to my work around the web, and maybe even some short opinion pieces about pop culture, nerd news and rock and/or roll. Stay tuned, and don’t forget the bagels.
